Obituary

Obituary for Garrett A. Hultin

Garrett A. Hultin, age 9, was called home to our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 1, 2021 from the Hershey Medical Center. Born on October 30, 2011 in Chambersburg, he was one of two twin sons of Matthew and Malina (Straitiff) Hultin, of Chambersburg.

Garrett was a 3rd-grade student at Shalom Christian Academy. He enjoyed playing soccer and the piano, learning and sharing about history and geography, collecting coins and stuffed owls, playing tag, and fishing. He had a kind spirit and gentle soul that touched many. His brother was his best friend and constant companion. He loved his family, classmates, and friends and never hesitated to say so. Above all, he loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. It was his delight to sing out worship songs each Sunday morning at King Street Church and listen to Pastor Jody Bowser preach.

Aside from his parents, he will be forever loved and missed by his twin brother, Grayson W. Hultin; grandparents, Ralph and Brenda Hultin and Roy and Lisa Frampton; great grandparents, W. Thomas and Beverly Straitiff, Donna Zettlemoyer; aunts, Rebecca Hultin, Kristin Newton (Eric), Michelle Bressler (Greg), Larissa Innerst (Rusty), Larya Garcia, and Rebecca Reeder; Uncle Jesse Straitiff and all his cousins and many other extended family members and friends.

We love you always and forever “Garr-Bear.”

His celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at King Street United Brethren Church, 162 E. King St. Chambersburg, with Pastor Jody Bowser and Pastor Don Baker officiating. Masks and social distancing efforts will be observed. Interment will follow in Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, March 5th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shalom Christian Academy at https://www.shalomca.com/garretthultinmemorialfund.

I remember meeting your sweet family at a Chambersburg restaurant. You were with Brenda and she introduced us. At the time, your sons were wearing Dr. Suess shirts, matching of course. They were only 2 or 3 years old and were so sweet even then. I'm sure you won't remember me. I knew Ralph when he was on the Board of Directors at CROSS. Later I met Brenda, and talked with her and Rebecca at Camp ToHiglo a few times. I can't begin to know the heartbreak you are going through, but will continue to pray that you and your family will feel God's comforting presence at this time of grief.

There are no words to take away your sorrow, just many prayers for you and your family.

Dear Brenda & Ralph, Bob and I send our prayers and love to your whole family. We have two grandsons, like you (ages 11 and 9). Joshua & Matthew go to a wonderful Christian school, like your sweet grand-boys. My heart aches for you. I know that God's plans will bring all of us together again in a better place. (After you moved from Virginia, I followed you on the piano, but YOU have always been missed for your beautiful piano playing and your wonderful, warm heart. GOD GIVE YOU HIS PEACE. God be with your whole family, including Garrett's mommy & daddy, and especially his sweet brother Grayson. Prayers and love from Warrenton, Bob & Donna Hubner

Dear Matt and Molina. We've been aware of the events leading up to Garrett's home going. We've continued to keep you and family in prayer and will going forward. It is obvious that you are God's beloved and are trusting Him despite lots of wondering why. God is going to be your strong tower and bring glory to himself through this. Love:. John and Debbie Snider
