Obituary for Edward H. Gunder

Mr. Edward H. Gunder, 91, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 in his home. Born March 12, 1929 in New Franklin, PA he was the son of the late Hugh E. and Rosella M. (Hamburg) Gunder.

He attended Quincy High School with the Class of 1946. Mr. Gunder was a mechanic and owned and operated Gunder’s Garage, Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg since 1948. Mr. Gunder was also a life-member of the Elks Club #600, Chambersburg where he served as exalted ruler and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 842. He enjoyed hunting, walking and spending time with his many dogs over the years.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara G. Johncour-Rowan (husband Dan) of Chambersburg, PA and Kim G. Woodal of Chambersburg, PA; five grandchildren, Nate Johncour (wife Toni), Matthew Woodal (wife Kathy), Peter Johncour (wife Monika), Shanna Stevens (husband Matt), and Craig Woodal (wife Jennifer); ten great grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vonda R. (Freeman) Gunder who passed away March 28, 2016.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 12, 2021 in the First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA, 17201. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday morning in the church. Interment will follow the service in Quincy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA, 17201.
