Obituary for Irene E. "Rene" Jones (Sites)
Irene E. Sites Jones age 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at Providence Place on Friday, January 19, 2018. Born in Abington, PA on September 21, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Howard M. and Marie E. Larkin Sites.
Rene devoted countless amounts of time to hospitality and the care of her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church of Chambersburg. Mrs. Jones enjoyed homemaking, gardening, floral arranging, and baking.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 60 years, Ronald G. Jones, whom she married April 23, 1957; three children, John M. Jones (wife Mandy), Joann M. Bert (husband Henry), and Barbara J. Clark (husband Thomas) all of Chambersburg, PA; nine grandchildren, Matthew Clark, Deborah Jones Ogburn, Benjamin Jones, Andrew Jones, Heather Bert Hipsley, Sarah Bert, Wesley Clark, Bethany Clark, Katelyn Clark; six great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Robert A. Sites (wife Betty) and Laura M. Doyle both of Waynesboro, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Private funeral services for the family will be held in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, with Pastor Craig Harris officiating; a private interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday, January 22, 2018, from 6 – 8 PM at the above funeral home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 10:30 AM at Grace Baptist Church, 2475 McCleary Dr, Chambersburg, PA 17201. The entire Jones family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Providence Place for their outstanding care and love shown to Rene and family. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions be made in her name to Providence Christian Academy, P.O. Box 369, Scotland, PA 17254.
