Obituary for Donald F. "Don" Wood
Donald F. “Don” Wood, age 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Friday, July 6, 2018. Born in Alexandria, VA on September 28, 1940, he was the son of the late William L. and Helen Morris Wood.
Don was a graduate of Surrattsville High School in Clinton, MD. He worked as a mainframe system software salesman, and in his free time, he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with several southern gospel quartets. After retirement, Don crafted hand-turned pens, a hobby which became a small business. Don's greatest love was the Lord, and he served as Associate Pastor at Family Christian Fellowship.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 58 years, Evelyn M. Wilson Wood, whom he married July 16, 1960; a daughter, Debora A. “Deb” Flores of Fayetteville, PA; five grandchildren; and many cherished great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Anne Mansell, a son-in-law, Victor Flores, and a sister, Norma Stapleson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Rod Thomas and Rev. Bruce Prestidge will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, July 9 from 6 – 8 PM and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Teen Challenge of Fredericksburg, 399 Poplar Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22406.
