Obituary for Larry O. Tornow

Larry O.  Tornow
Larry O. Tornow, 79, of Scotland, PA, passed away Sunday morning, November 5, 2017 at his home. Born in Wisner, NE, he was a son of the late Ray and Ruth Tornow. Larry was a graduate of Marquette High School in Yakima, WA and then served in the US Army for 22 years retiring at the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served in Vietnam in 1966. He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 2007. Larry received a B.S. from Shippensburg University in 1986. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, and the Chambersburg Mallwalkers.

Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara Tornow, whom he married in 1962; three children, Maria Ichiyama (husband Randy) of Gig Harbor, WA, Paul Tornow (wife Stephanie) of Shippensburg, PA, and Carina Tornow of Germantown, MD; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Rose (husband Dave) of Sammamish, WA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son and a brother, Leon Tornow.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 10, 2017 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Deacon Richard Aull will officiate. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow at Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
