Obituary for Margaret E. Gilbert

Margaret Ellen Gilbert, 80, of Fayetteville, PA (1937-2018)
It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Ellen Gilbert (Matthews) announce her death after a long illness on Friday, June 1st, 2018, at the age of 80 years.

A native of Gettysburg, PA and graduate of Gettysburg Area Senior High School, she has resided in Fayetteville, PA for 59+ years.

Margaret was a very tough, courageous, and calm woman who could handle anything God threw her way while maintaining a great sense of humor and a very positive frame of mind through it all. Through the years she has had many medical setbacks and not one time did she ever complain or place blame. She was the type of woman that anyone would be proud to call family.

She was a homemaker, a devout Christian, and member of Greenwood Assembly of God. She helped with bookkeeping at her son’s business and her hobbies included reading, cooking, and raising her family. She loved her families’ pets, and would take-in the occasional sporting event.

Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brian “Garrison” Gilbert of Baltimore, MD, Linda Bricker (Curt) of Shippensburg, PA, grandson, Jordan Helman of Tampa, FL, step-granddaughter, Kylee Bricker-Hill (Michael) of Clear Springs, MD and caregiver, Barb Stoner Chambersburg, PA, who has become part of the family, as well as many nephews & nieces. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Lloyd Gilbert, her parents, James & Alice (Overholtzer)Matthews, and her two sisters, Patricia Barder & Mary Riley.

A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at 11am June 7, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg PA, 17202 with Pastor Eugene Martin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations in memory of Margaret can be made to the Greenwood Assembly of God, 150 Anthony Hwy, Fayetteville, PA 17222.
