Obituary for William R. Baublitz

Rev. William R. Baublitz, 78, of Chambersburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 2, 2022 at his home. Born August 3, 1943 in York, PA, he was a son of the late John E. and Pauline Heiland Baublitz.

Bill dedicated his life to serving his Lord. He earned his Master of Arts degree from Ashland Seminary in Ashland, OH in 1985. William served as a minister in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Ohio for over 30 years, in both the Brethren in Christ Church and Mennonite Church. Over the course of his calling in the ministry he served at Saxton BIC, Green Grove BIC, Beulah Chapel BIC, Springfield, OH, Air Hill BIC in Chambersburg, Rock Hill Mennonite near McConnellsburg, Dove Christian Fellowship Mennonite in Walkersville, MD, and retired from Roseglen BIC in Duncannon, PA. He had a deep unwavering faith in Christ, loved people and sharing the Gospel. Bill enjoyed playing guitar, banjo and bluegrass gospel. He also enjoyed woodworking, tinkering, hunting, fishing, gardening, flowers, reading and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine M. Taylor Baublitz, whom he married on September 22, 1962; three children, William R. Baublitz II (wife Glenda) of Newville, Michelle Bowers (husband Keith) of Shippensburg, and Jennifer Mackey (husband Troy) of Horse Valley; eight grandchildren, Emily, Will, Johnathan, Amanda, Katie, Spencer, Britton and Weston; seven great grandchildren, Josephine, Lorelei, Nora, Phoebe, George, Grayson and Jaelen; and his brother, Wayne Baublitz (wife Peggy) of Spring Grove. Aside from his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother John Baublitz.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 5th, 2022 at Mowersville Brethren In Christ Church, 14924 West Creek Road, Newburg, PA 17240. Pastor Dave Halteman will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mowersville Brethren In Christ Church at the above address.
