Obituary for Wayne Edward Byers Sr.
Wayne Edward Byers, Sr., age 93, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at The Leland of Laurel Run, Waynesboro, PA. Born February 20, 1928, in Edenville, PA, he was the son of the late John Byers, Sr. and Thressa Miller Byers.
A 1946 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Mr. Byers went on to work for the Chambersburg Engineering Company for 46 1/2 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Cold Springs United Brethren Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and metal detecting.
Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Irene Alleman Byers, whom he married on June 9, 2001; two sons, Wayne Byers, Jr. (wife Paula) of Fayetteville, PA and Tim Byers of Chambersburg, PA; three step-daughters, Rhonda Wolff of Fayetteville, PA, Marsha Alexander (husband Clifford) of Chambersburg, PA, and LuAnn Miley (husband Kevin) of Chambersburg, PA; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Byers, Jr. (wife Arlene) of Fayetteville, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Byers in 1996 and five siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Cold Springs United Brethren Church, 1051 Brookens Rd., Fayetteville, PA 17222.
