Obituary for Vera G. Bricker (Oellig)
Vera G. Bricker, age 84, of Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg died at her home Monday December 19, 2022 after a long illness. Born in Grantville, Dauphin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late J. Byron and Cora Meyers (Sollenberger) Oellig.
Vera was a 1956 graduate of Hershey High School and shortly after completed the Practical Nursing Training Program at Chambersburg Hospital. After her marriage to Marlin Bricker, she worked with him on their dairy farm. In her later years she worked at Jim’s Country Market. She did her work with cheerfulness and was always young at heart.
Vera was an active member of the Upton Brethren Church and volunteered with Joy El Ministries’ Released Time.
Surviving Vera are four children: Rhonda, wife of Ken Wiest of Grand Rapids, MI, Greg Bricker, Doug Bricker and wife Eileen, all of Chambersburg, and Roxanne, wife of Leon Martin of Denver, PA; eleven grandchildren, including Abigale Bricker who helped with her care; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marlin in 2005, and 3 brothers, Robert Oellig, Richard Oellig and Byron Oellig.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday December 27, 2022 at the Upton Brethren Church, 8490 Warm Spring Road, Greencastle, PA. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Family will receive friends at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA on Monday, December 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Friends will also be received one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
