Obituary for Saundra Lee Funk (Kirkwood)
Saundra Lee Funk, 82, of Chambersburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Chambersburg Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born May 25, 1940 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Esther Biesecker Kirkwood. Her beloved husband, Norman L. Funk, Jr., preceded her in death on October 16, 2008.
Saundra was a graduate of CASHS. She spent most of her life making a home for her family. She enjoyed car races, fishing, taking care of her house plants and fish pond, birdwatching and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughter Robin (Bailey) Knepper and husband Eddie of Chambersburg; granddaughter, Nicole Greene and husband Shaughn of Harrisburg; her brother, H. Thomas Kirkwood and wife Jutta of Chambersburg; sister-in-law, Barb Eberly of Dunkirk, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Saundra was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Eberly.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 6, 2023 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made directly to Robin to assist in defraying final expenses.
