Obituary for Ruth V. Hamilton (Zeis)
Ruth V. Zeis Hamilton, 82, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away Thursday evening, May 2, 2019 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 6, 1937 in Fort Loudon, she was a daughter of the late George and Eliza Jane Ketzel Zeis. She had been employed for many years at Howard Johnson’s in Chambersburg. She loved to decorate for all of the seasons. Ruth enjoyed walking, crocheting, cleaning, and spending time with her family. Her husband of fifty years, John R. Hamilton, preceded her in death on September 30, 2005.
She is survived by her siblings, John Zeis, Verna Youse, Howard Zeis, George Zeis (Evelyn) and Roy Zeis (Margaret), all of Mercersburg, Daniel Zeis (Judy) and Helen Sipes, all of Chambersburg, and Esther Graham (Glenn) of Orrstown, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Zeis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 9, 2019 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Murray Stevens will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
