Obituary for Rose Anne Barr (Fitzgerald)

Rose Anne Barr, 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Luther Ridge. Born November 1, 1930 in Sandusky, OH, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Dorothy Ebert Fitzgerald. Her beloved husband, Richard G. Barr, preceded her in death on July 26, 2003.

Rose Anne spent most of her life making a home for her family. She was a member of Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung, NJ where she was long time choir member. Rose Anne was a former president of the Watchung Garden Club of New Jersey where she was a member for 65 years. She enjoyed floral design, making wreaths, interior decorating and volunteer work. Being with her family was the most important thing in her life. Her greatest accomplishment was her loving family and the legacy she left them.

She is survived by five children, Rebecca Winward and husband David of Greeneville, TN, Thomas Barr and wife Allie of Steamboat, CO, Roger Barr and wife Alice of North Whales, PA, Virginia Riedy of Chambersburg, PA, and Nancy Mercer and husband Bart of NJ; eleven grandchildren, Megan, Rick, Emmy, Tanner, Deirdre, Tara, Ryan, Douglas, Janelle, Jeffrey and Tyler; and five great grandchildren, Ripley, Bella, Imogen, Grant, Eva, Hadley and Saige. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose Anne was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Audrey; her son-in-law, Kevin Riedy; and her brother Charles Fitzgerald.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 2695 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Christopher Frye will officiate. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery, Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose Anne’s name to Wilson Memorial Church, Watchung, NJ 07069.
