Obituary for Ronald G. Salmon
Ronald G. Salmon, 88, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born October 13, 1934 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Clifford and Alice (Leedy) Salmon.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1953. Ron then went to work as a program management specialist with DESCOM at Letterkenny Army Depot from 1956 until his retirement in 1988. He attended Antrim Brethren in Christ Church for the last 24 years. Ron was a volunteer with American Red Cross and at the Snack Bar at Chambersburg Hospital for a number of years. He enjoyed spending time gardening and working on the landscape around his home.
Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Peggy (Hill) Salmon who he married January 16, 1955; a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Hinz (Robert) of Gaithersburg, MD; a granddaughter, Amanda “Mandy” Krize (Scott); a great-granddaughter Amelia “Mia”; two siblings Robert Salmon and Patricia Stevens both of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, June Frank; and five brothers, Joe, William, Ray, Paul and Jess Salmon.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 17, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Casey Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday evening as well as one hour prior to the service Thursday morning in the funeral home.
