Obituary for Roger Charles Roden

Roger Charles Roden, age 78, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 10, 1942, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Donald Chester Roden and Lucy Kirstine Lisonbee Roden. Mr. Roden worked in communications as a technician for 39 years, starting with C&P Telephone and retiring from Verizon. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he served honorably as a Seabee from 1961-1963. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and of the Retired CWA 2108 Club. A gifted handyman, his family believed that Mr. Roden was able to fix just about anything. He enjoyed carpentry, watching football, model trains, going to the Mont Alto Senior Center, and above all helping others and putting their needs ahead of his own.

Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Ann Jones Roden, whom he married on August 24, 1963; four children, James Brian Roden (wife Nikki) of Lothian, MD, Keith Daniel Roden (wife Peggy) of Sunbury, PA, Stephanie Margaret Roden Whitlock (husband Jerry) of Fayetteville, PA, and Douglas Lisonbee Roden (wife Wendy) of Grasonville, MD; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Pease of Frederick, MD.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 1 PM at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27, 2020, from 3-6 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road., Chambersburg, PA. All CDC and PA Dept. of Health Guidelines will be followed.
