Obituary for Robert Anthony Tokar
Robert Anthony Tokar, 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 14, 2022 at his home. Born October 14, 1941 in Johnstown, PA, he was a son of the late Anthony and Jessie Twardziak Tokar. Mr. Tokar was a graduate of the Johnstown High School and attended technical school in Pittsburgh where he studied electronics. A computer specialist, he began his career with General Electric and continued with the company as it progressed to Honeywell, Honeywell-Bull, and finally Bull. He then owned and operated Metro Computers, and later worked as a contractor for ABC Radio prior to his retirement.
He was a faithful member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg where he served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. He was active with Knights of Columbus Council 1426 where he served as Financial Secretary for many years. He enjoyed golfing, horseracing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. His wife, Rosemary Letha (Block) Tokar, whom he married October 20, 1962, preceded him in death on February 26, 2017.
Mr. Tokar is survived by a son, John Tokar and his wife Lynelle of Eldersburg, MD; a daughter, Cynthia Tokar and husband Jeff Leinbach of Abbottstown; four grandchildren, Rachel Tokar, Sarah Tokar, Zoe Alex Philippou, and Katherine Tokar; a sister, Carol Ann Maier and husband Alan of Vermilion, OH; and a brother, David Tokar of Media, PA.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Very Rev. Allan Wolfe, V.F. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends on from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA where recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:30 PM.
