Obituary for Robert F. McClure

Robert F. “Bob” McClure, 89, of Shippensburg, PA passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 in UMPC Carlisle. Born February 5, 1933 in Chambersburg, PA he was the son of the late James C. McClure, Sr. and Margaret (Heckman) McClure.

He attended Chambersburg Area Schools. Bob served his country honorably for over 25 years with the United States Army, United States Air Force, and the United States National Guard. Following his service with the military, he worked as a mechanic at Valley Quarries formerly Mt. Cydonia Sand Company, Fayetteville.

Bob was a member of New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church, the American Legion and the Amvets. He was also a member of TREA and the Berlin U.S. Military Veterans Association. Bob enjoyed watching old western movies, wood working, playing the guitar and banjo, and traveling nationally and internationally with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Chae (Kwon) McClure; three sisters, Annabelle Smetzer of Waynesboro, PA, Margie Wile and Lois Kramer both of Chambersburg, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2022 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Lawton Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Norland Cemetery where members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 will conduct military honors.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday afternoon in the funeral home.
