Obituary for Ralph Edward Nye
Ralph E. Nye, 61, of Concord, PA, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore in Mechanicsburg. Born October 5, 1959 in St. Petersburg, FL, he was the son of the late Harold and Helena Wingert Nye.
Ralph attended CASHS. Early in his life, he was employed at Gabler’s Auto Body and Tire. He was later employed in tire sales with Dice’s Tire Service and lastly Highland’s Tire. He was raised in the Brethren in Christ Church. Ralph was a member of Sons of the American Legion, McCartney Post 232 in Dry Run for 36 years; and was a proud Friend of Bill W. for the past 12 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, boating at Raystown Lake, and American muscle cars of all sizes. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and being at his cabin.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Brenda L. Gamble Nye, whom he married on November 20, 1988; two children, Hunter Nye (Danielle Varner) of Dry Run, and Hailey Junkin (husband Logan) of Fannettsburg; his granddaughter, Tulsi Eva Junkin; three sisters, Brenda Maddy (husband Robert) of Mechanicsburg, Cheryl Cook of Shippensburg, and Rosalie Flook of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph is also survived by the extended Gamble family. Aside from his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Robert Cook, Sr., and Gregory Flook.
Funeral services for Ralph will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Darwin Goshorn and Rev. Luke Holtry will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Concord Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:30 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a trust for Ralph’s granddaughter, Tulsi who was born two days before he passed away. Checks may be made out to Hailey Junkin and mailed to P.O. Box 387, Fannettsburg, PA 17221.
