Obituary for Pennie L. Helman (Baum)
Pennie L. Helman, 72, of Chambersburg, passed away on February 15, 2022 at Hershey Medical Center after a prolonged illness. She was born on August 3, 1949 to Sam Baum and Pauline Hardsock (Baum) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Pennie graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1967. Following graduation, she married James Helman in 1968. Pennie and James went on to have three children, Jamie, P. Darryl and Aundrea Helman. She spent her time doing activities she enjoyed such as reading, gardening, bird watching, and spending time with family. Additionally, she was a long-time volunteer of the Franklin County Literacy Council.
Pennie was preceded in death by her son, P. Darryl Helman; brother, Glen “Skip” Baum; and mother, Pauline Hardsock. She is survived by her husband, James Helman; son, Jamie Helman and wife Kathy; and her daughter, Aundrea Helman. She also is survived by her granddaughter Chelsea Egolf (Helman) and husband Evan; and her great granddaughter, Violet, who she was very fond of.
Donations may be made in memory of Pennie to the animal shelter of your choice. Services will be held privately at the family’s convenience. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
