Obituary for Patricia A. Engel (McCormick)

Patricia A. Engel, 89, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at her home. Born February 18, 1933 in Trenton, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Paul E. McCormick and Mabel Mains.

Patricia was employed at Gates Rubber Company in Chambersburg as Office Manager until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary and held several positions at the national, state and local levels. She was also an associate member of the local Landis-McCleaf Detachment. Patricia was a very active member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and sang in the church choir for many years. For her many years of volunteer work, she was awarded The President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for National and Community Service. She was also a recipient of the Landis-McCleaf Detachment Iron Mike Award. Patricia enjoyed gardening, reading, wine tasting and crafts of all kinds.

She is survived by four children, Teena Foster and husband Bill of Chambersburg, Karen Brueland and husband Bill of Aurora, CO, Valerie Green and husband Andy of College Grove, TN, and Diane Engel of Landing, NJ; six grandchildren, Cassandra, Alexander, Joe, Karl, Caity and Shawn; six great grandchildren, Annaliese, Alaina, Jade, Stella, Wyatt and Elenay; and four siblings, Alice Papiez, Shirley Dombroski, Connie Kaufman and Carol McCormick; Aside from her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by her son, Charles Edward Engel, Jr.; and six siblings, Marion Konopitski, Clara Chojnowski, Gloria Engel, Paul McCormick, Robert McCormick and Richard McCormick.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The National Marine Corps League Auxiliary Chaplain, Barbara Nobile will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service.
