Nancy McCormick Reichenbach, 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday morning, September 18, 2022 at the Chambers Pointe Memory Home. Born August 23, 1931 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late James Waldo and Anna Eleanor Miller McCormick. Nancy was a graduate of the former Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1949, where she played clarinet in the band and orchestra. She was President of the band her senior year. She went on to graduate from Wilson College in 1953 with a B.A. degree in Psychology. She received her Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Shippensburg University. Additional graduate studies were done at Penn State University and Western Maryland University.

Nancy taught English in the Chambersburg School District for five years at the former Central Junior High School, and later transferred to the former J. Frank Faust Junior High School where she was a guidance counselor for 26 years, retiring in June 1986. She enjoyed her many years with junior high school students and was always happy to talk with former students, many who remembered her years later.

Nancy was a life member of the Marine Corps League, Landis McCleaf Detachment Auxiliary, Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Auxiliary, and Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion Auxiliary. As a square dance enthusiast, she was formerly a member of the Whirlybirds Square Dance Club and the Curly Q’s Square Dance Club of Hagerstown. Nancy enjoyed traveling and had visited 49 states in the United States, many provinces in eastern and western Canada, areas of Mexico, and 9 countries in Europe. In addition to square dancing, she liked ballroom dancing and reading. She also volunteered at the Chambersburg Hospital and was ready at the drop of a hat to take family members and friends to medical appointments locally and out of town. She was fond of her many canine companions: cocker spaniels, collie, and five different sheltie dogs.

Nancy and her husband, the late Harold E. Reichenbach, were married February 15, 1992 at Central Presbyterian Church. Mr. Reichenbach preceded her in death on November 18, 2008.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Isabelle M. McCormick in March 1975 and an infant brother in 1918.
