Obituary for Nancy Ellen Crowder (Griffith)
Nancy E. Crowder, age 77 years, of Chambersburg and formerly of Bellefonte, PA, passed away on March 26, 2022 at Providence Place in Chambersburg, PA. She was born November 7, 1944 in York, PA to the late John H., Jr. and Camille (McHugh) Griffith. Nancy graduated from Carlisle Senior High School and Thompson Institute Business College. She continued her education throughout her life, taking courses at HACC and PSU in State College.
In her early life, she worked at the United Telephone Company in Carlisle, PA, and worked most of her life at the Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA, in the School of Education Psychology. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and formerly of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellefonte. Nancy LOVED football, especially PSU.
She is survived by her son, Donald Crowder, Jr. of Bellefonte, PA; three siblings, John H. “Jack” Griffith (Kriss) of Carlisle, Jean Griffith of Chambersburg, and Elizabeth White of Boyertown; sisters-in-law Sally and Katherine; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Crowder; brothers James, Gregory, and Michael; sister Mary Lou; sister-in-law Joy; brother-in-law Henry; and nephew Christopher.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 152 East Pomfret Street, Carlisle, PA. The service will be live-streamed and available at the church’s website, saintpatrickchurch.org. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service begins at Noon. Entombment will be at the convenience of the family in the Chapel Mausoleum at Centre County Memorial Park, State College. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to contributions could be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 279 N. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
