Obituary for Mazie Ruth Smith (Harris)
Mazie Ruth Smith, 94, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born June 8, 1928 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Harris and Caroline Hamil Johnston. Her beloved husband, William W. Smith, Jr., preceded her in death on November 18, 1994.
Mazie was a graduate of McConnellsburg High School. She dedicated most of her life to making a home for her family. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and watching movies.
She is survived by three children, Sherry Stoner of Fayetteville, William W. Smith III and wife Rose of St. Thomas, and Douglas Smith of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Larry Stoner, Jr. and wife Lisa of Fayetteville, Stephanie McBeth and husband Edward of Fayetteville, Deborah Findley and husband Thomas of Chambersburg, and William W. Smith IV of Mercersburg; eight great grandchildren, Garrett, Luke, Aaron, Evan, Dara, Ayden, Levi and Julian; and her sister, Mary Ann Lowans of Fayetteville. Aside from her parents and husband, Mazie was preceded in death by her son Christopher Smith; and son-in-law, Larry Stoner.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
