Obituary for Masato Luthens

Masato “Mark” Luthens, 50, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 in his home. Born May 10, 1972 in Tsurmi-Ken, Japan, he was the son of Shawn and Hiroko (Hikita) Luthens of Chambersburg, PA.

He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1991. Following high school he worked as a plumber and carpenter in various locations where he resided including Japan, Australia, California, Maryland, Florida and ending up in Pennsylvania. Mark was a Pittsburgh Steeler football fan and enjoyed playing fantasy football. He was an avid golfer and played in several golf leagues in the area.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Matthew Luthens and his wife Tonya; a niece, Chloe Luthens; a nephew, Dillion Luthens; uncles, Sherwin Luthens and his wife Donna and Keishi Hikita; and aunts, Susan Smith and her husband Gregory and Noriko Kotani. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Alvin and Lucille Luthens; maternal grandparents, Shigeyasu and Yona Hikita; and two aunts, Sheree Luthens and Makiko Inayoshi.

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, April 7, 2023 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday morning in the funeral home.
