Obituary for Marvin William Guyer

Marvin William Guyer, age 68, of Scotland, PA, passed away on December 29, 2020 at his home. Born September 21, 1952 in Chambersburg, PA, he was a son of the late Harold A. Guyer, Sr. and Emma (Moore) Guyer.

Marvin was a 1971 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School, where he played on the football team and was a left handed pitcher for the school baseball team; as well as for the Chambersburg Maroons for a number of years. Always an avid fitness and sports fanatic, you could often find Marvin exercising at the YMCA, or out running along the sidewalks of Chambersburg. He was employed at Ingersoll Rand and later Volvo at various positions, for 40 years, until his retirement in 2016. He loved riding and detailing motorcycles, as well as cooking. He enjoyed tinkering around the house and yard, and taking care of his fish. He also liked to settle down and draw and color. Marvin was a big man with a matching heart; he had a loving personality and was quick to greet you with a handshake or hug. He made friends with everyone. He was living his best life when he was spending time with his family, grandchildren and dogs.

Surviving is his loving wife of 38 years, Michelle (Hickok) Guyer, whom he married on September 22, 1982; daughters, Shawnna Guyer-Skelton (husband Ryan), of Chambersburg, PA, and Sarah Guyer-Marshall (husband Darren), of Fairfield, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Mason and Morgan Skelton and Sloan and Cora Marshall; and two brothers, Harold A. “Budd” Guyer, Jr., of State College, PA, and Eddie Knepper (wife Robin) of Chambersburg, PA.

Marvin will be laid to rest in Parklawns Memorial Gardens where Pastor Garry Culler will officiate. Marvin cherished and loved his friends and family. We will hold a celebration of life service at a future date, to share memories and love. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
