Obituary for Marthe J. "Julie" Schjodt (Freche)
Marthe Juliette “Julie” Schjodt, 80, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 in Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville, PA. Born July 28, 1942 in Saigon, South Vietnam, she was the daughter of the late Michel Freche and Thie Tien Do.
Julie was employed as a seamstress at J. Schoeneman Company for a number of years until the company closed. Following that she went to work in the bakery of the Butcher Shoppe, Chambersburg for 18 years. She was a member of the American Legion Post 46 and the VFW Post 1599 both in Chambersburg where she was part of the Women’s Auxiliary. Julie enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She loved to cook, bake, and bring joy and happiness to those around her.
She is survived by her husband George M. Schjodt; two children, Kimberly R. Zimmerman and her husband Steve of Front Royal, VA and Antoine Freche and his wife Susan of Bristow, VA; five grandsons, twins, Cody and Cory Zimmerman, Connor Freche, and twins, Garrett and Bryan Freche; a sister, Madeleine Nguyen of Troyes, France; a brother Leon Freche of Limoges, France; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Yvonne Kruse.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday April 28, 2023 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday morning in the funeral home.
