Obituary for Margaret Virginia Herman (Daum)

Margaret Virginia (Daum) Herman, 89, died on Friday September 2, 2022 at Chambers Pointe in Chambersburg, PA. Margaret was born on November 6, 1932 in Hanover Hospital to Clemens and Mary (Brown) Daum of New Oxford, PA. She graduated from New Oxford High School. Following graduation she worked as a teller at Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank in New Oxford. On October 8, 1955 she married James Walter Herman. They had two children, Ann (Herman) Culbertson and Mark Herman.

When her husband was called into full-time ministry in 1968, she faithfully supported him and the various ministries of the churches they served in the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. Margaret loved, and was loved, by her family and friends for whom she faithfully prayed.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Ann Culbertson and son-in-law Kurt, and by her son Mark Herman and daughter-in-law Kathy, and nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Kiprotich, Katie Yeatts (Jed), Jesse Herman (Christine), Stephen Herman, Paul Herman (Kiana), Jane Thompson (Josh), Luke Herman, Joel Herman, and Emily Culbertson. Margaret was blessed with great-grandchildren Elayna, James, Peyton, and three soon to be born; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jim in 2008; her granddaughter Jennifer in 1997; a sister, Dorothy Schlaline in 2017; and a brother, Gary Daum in 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 12, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. John Ile will officiate. Interment will be in New Oxford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until services begin at 11:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home.
