Obituary for Lois Jean Hinish (Carper)
Lois Jean Hinish, 90, of Supply, NC and formerly of Roaring Spring, PA, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 in Bolivia, NC. Born on May 25, 1932 in Woodbury, PA, she was a daughter of the late Oren E. and Grace M. (Woodcock) Carper. She was the widow or Ronald L. Hinish, Sr., whom she married in April of 1952. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2015.
Jean was a member of Bare Memorial Church of God in Roaring Spring, where she played the piano many years ago. As a homemaker, she and Ron raised six children while she also worked as a teacher’s aide at Roaring Spring Elementary School. Many may still fondly remember her as the “tough love” disciplinarian on the playground -- a role which she greatly enjoyed.
She is survived by six children, Kathy L. Geisel of Chambersburg, Krista J. Strickler of Ohio, Ronald L. Jr. of Roaring Spring, Rodney L. of Claysburg, Karla J. Elway of Kentucky, and Ryan O. of Altoona; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert D. and Mervin H. Carper, and her sister, Barbara A. Dick.
A private interment will be held in Replogle Cemetery, Woodbury. No further services are scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Bare Memorial Church of God, 500 E. Main St. Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
