Obituary for Kent Schreiber

Kent Schreiber, 76, of Greencastle, PA passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 in his home after a three year battle with Stage IV cancer. Born September 24, 1946 in Chicago, IL he was the son of the late Alexander P. and Beatrice (Bollard) Schreiber.

He graduated with high honors from Hagerstown Junior College in a year and a half. Kent then went on to graduate Cum Laude with a Bachelor Degree in business administration from Towson State. He served with the United States Marine Corps from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1968.

Kent was an airline transport rated corporate pilot out of Hagerstown, MD for 47 years. He was the chief pilot and flight department manager for Tristate Electric Supply and Quest One, LLC. He also flew for numerous other local companies. Kent accrued a total of 10,000 hours and 9,000 of which were as a corporate pilot. He was a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Experimental Aircraft Association, United States Parachute Association, a lifetime member of NRA, and past president of Washington County Regional Airport Association. He was an avid skydiver and accumulated over 1,100 jumps. Kent was also a professional skydiver and aerobatic pilot in the King’s Dominion Firestone International Airshow at King’s Dominion Amusement Park, Virginia in the 1970s.

Above all, Kent was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. During his wife’s battle with breast cancer he was her biggest supporter, advocate, and caretaker. As a father, Kent supported his son, Nick’s baseball career from coaching, practicing after work, and cheering him on. Kent was the reason Nick had such a successful baseball career at high school, college, and professional levels.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lurene “Lu” (Miller) Schreiber; a son Nickolas Schreiber and his wife Renee; and a granddaughter, Beatrice.
