Swisher Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I graduated from PSU Mont Alto in 1980 with an Associate Degree in Forest Technology. Mr. Swisher was my instructor for many of my classes.
I will always cherish the memories of Mont Alto and wanted you to know that Mr. Swisher had a very positive impact on my life.

No matter how many times it happens, I never get used to getting news about the death of a family member, an old friend, neighbor, A swim parent, or in this case, someone who was like a second dad to me growing up.

Life gets busy, kids and grandkids come along, distance makes it harder to stay connected.. My heart was heavy earlier this week. I should have called. I didn’t. I have peace knowing mom & dad, but especially dad was there to greet you. I Loved you like a dad. Glad you are now pain free. Life had been a struggle for so long. I wish we weren’t so far away. I wish a lot of things were different. I wish I would have made many different choices that could have allowed us to stay more connected face to face.

I spent the last few hours reflecting on the connections of our families. The commutes to swim practice in your red VW, vacations and trips together, the pain and sorrow of dealing with tragic loss so long ago, and how your family stood in the gap for ours through the deaths of both of our parents. 😭😭😭
I treasure you, your lovely wife, and all your kids and grand kids.

Life just isn’t fair is it? The agony that I’m feeling right now is overwhelming and I can’t stop sobbing. You were truly a wonderful man, Mr Swisher. I will always remember the story you would tell about how these neighbor families from up and down the street became friends. In a day and age where we don’t let our kids out of our sights, the thought of a 4 year old riding her tricycle down the street a 1/8 mile to play seems insane and dangerous. I still remember that day, after all these years, walking into your house and saying “hi, my name is Valerie Lawracy, can kids come out to play?”

I would like to think that’s how you made your entrance to heaven. Maybe like a child, you pushed the gate open, introduced yourself, and asked if anyone could play. I can only hope that my dad, and mom, and Kenneth (Kenny/Ken) were there.....family and old friends reuniting for the first time in a very long time.

Love You Mr. Ken Swisher!! ❤️❤️❤️
You will always be remembered and never forgotten. 🎣🏹🚣🏼‍♂️🏕⛰🏝🏖⛱🏮💜

Thank you Mr. Swisher for being trustworthy, passionate, caring, mentally tough, emotionally sound and spiritually-walked in-the-faith; this and more life wellness was demonstrated as you taught us in the forestry profession. You cared so much about life, the natural resources, family and friends. Heaven just got a little louder as you made entry into glory to rest with the Lord in His presence. You made a mark on society and helped many others, you raised a great son; may your reward be great. May God grant you assignment over a portion of natural resources in glory land. You were a wonderful human being. Sincerely, David E. Mong class of 1993.
