Obituary for June L. Summers
June L. McMullen Summers, 97, passed away Tuesday evening January 11, 2022 at Michaux Manor in South Mountain, PA. She had been in declining health since the summer. June was the youngest of four daughters born to Roy Clair McMullen and Lydia Grace Reed McMullen.
She was born August 2, 1924 in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County, and attended school in Roxbury. She married and raised three children. In 1982 June married Paul Summers of York County, PA. Paul brought love, laughter and travel to June’s life. They resided for a time in Florida until Paul’s health brought them back to Pennsylvania. Paul passed away in 2004. June resided in the Chambersburg area until she gave up driving and moved to Michaux Manor in 2013. She contented herself with reading, watching TV, playing bingo, working word puzzles and playing computer games. Her years at Michaux were good years. She received excellent care there.
Along with Paul, she was preceded in death by son, Stephen Cummings. She is survived by daughter, Terri Evans of Naples, Florida, son Brad Cummings of Chambersburg, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Murray B. Stevens will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grane Hospice at 1200 Camp Hill Bypass, Suite 205
