Obituary for John H. Shadle Jr.
John H. Shadle, Jr., 84, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at his home. Born September 14, 1936 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late John H. Shadle and Esther V. Miller Shadle.
John was a 1954 graduate of CASHS. He was employed with the Borough of Chambersburg as Superintendent of the Water and Sewer Department until his retirement in 1997. John was a member of King Street Church and enjoyed spending time with his family at the cabin, golfing, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan A. Kuhn Shadle, whom he married on February 6, 1955; three children, Rick Shadle, Randy Shadle (wife Marie), and Kristi Stouffer (husband Jere), all of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene R. Shadle.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at King Street Church, 162 E. King Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Ron Cook and Rev. John Shadle will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org, or to SpiriTrust Lutheran Hospice at spiritrustlutheran.org.
