My memories of John include having dinner at his home which included his wife Ellen. John also liked good food and even in overseas postings he gave me the address where I could send for English muffins in the States. Pretty good considering I'd receive them about two months after placing an order. Although I lost contact, I never forgot his kindness to me as a newbie. Cynthia Romero

I first met John around 1965 as a work cohort and we remained work friends through our careers. John, with that Irish grin, was always easy to chat with and work with. We shared a history with many aspiring CIA officers in a newly established AF Division in the early 1960's and those aspiring young officers went on to have successful careers and lives. A great many of our cohorts have passed and each one has left with many a story to tell, and now John is one of them. I'll miss seeing him at the AF lunches, where we all reconnected after retirement. Pat Strupp

As others mentioned, John was a true gentleman, courtly and kind. He was a mentor to me for many years, and I learned so much from him during the times we worked together. He was thoughtful, caring, and his door was always open when we needed guidance or just a friend to listen. I’ll never forget him. My deepest sympathy to his family. Denise Keene

John O'Shaughnessy was a gentleman who helped those around him and believed in true friendships. He was not recognized publicly for his achievements, which were many. My condolences to his spouse and son.
