Obituary for JinTsai Wang

Jin Tsai Wang, age 89, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at his home surrounded by family. Of Chinese descent, he was born in Inchon, Korea on April 7, 1930, to the late Lien-Sen Wang and Shi Yuan Wang, and emigrated to the United States as a teenager. Dr. Wang was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (Ph.D.), Carnegie Institute of Technology (M.S.), and Oregon State University-Corvallis (B.S.). Dr. Wang taught Chemistry as a tenured professor for 20 years at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA, after which he served as a research chemist at the Food and Drug Administration in Washington, DC, for 17 years. Dr. Wang was an adventurous spirit who traveled the world, became a licensed scuba diver in his 70s, and took up fine woodworking and furniture making in his 80s. He was a lifelong, avid, wide-ranging reader and enjoyed a vigorous political debate.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Li-jen Tao Wang, whom he married on July 24, 1958; two daughters, Katherine Wong (Stephen Chess) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Lu-in Wang (Dave Herring) of Pittsburgh, PA; three grandchildren, An-Li Herring, Jordan Wong, and Maia Herring; and three sisters, Kuei-Guilan, Kuei-Kueigu, Kuei-Yen. Dr. Wang was preceded in death by a fourth sister, Kuei-Hwa, and his parents.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 15, 2019, from 3 – 4 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Private interment will be in Mont Alto Cemetery.
