Obituary for James T. Warne

James T. “Buzz” Warne, 73, of Chambersburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 5, 1948 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Wilbur, Sr. and Mary E. Palmer Warne.

Jim was a 1968 graduate of CASHS. A US Army veteran, he served honorably in the Vietnam War. Jim was employed as an Auto Mechanic at the Scotland School for Veteran’s Children for 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. Jim was a life member of the VFW Post 1599 and the Vietnam Veterans Post 41. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 373 and Legion Riders in Greencastle, the Franklin County Fire Police Association, Chambersburg Fireman’s Relief, and Pleasant Hall Fire Police. He formerly served as Fire Chief for Franklin County Air Unit Co. 10 and as an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America Troop 128 in Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth McGraw-Warne, whom he married on October 16, 2010; two sons, Christopher James Warne of FL, and Gregory Thomas Warne (Amy) of Shippensburg; five step-children, Diane Tarner (David Fraizer) of Marion, Billie Besore (Brian) of Shippensburg, Karen Conner (Steven) of Fogelsville, PA, Amy Huber (Jason) of Chambersburg, and Amber Stopyra (Andrew, Jr.) of Chambersburg; 19 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Juanita Shaw and Jane McCartney, both of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Wilbur “Ray” Warne, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Jane Nicholson will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery where military honors will be provided by members of the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday evening and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
