Obituary for Gregory R. Jaques

Gregory R. Jaques, 71, loving and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 25, 1951, in Rock Island, IL, he was the son of the later Alfred W. and Helen M. (Petersen).

Greg attended United Township High School graduating with the class of 1969. After obtaining his bachelor's degree from Black Hawk College of East Moline, IL, Greg served with the United States Air Force from April 12, 1972, until his honorable discharge November 26, 1976. He then completed his physician assistant studies at Hershey Medical Center. Retiring as a physician's assistant after a number of years at Dunham Army Health Clinic, Carlisle, PA, he had previously worked as a PA in York and Greencastle. During his career as a physician's assistant, he also served as a civilian in Afghanistan for a year.

A devoted member of Grand Point Church, Chambersburg, he encouraged others by witnessing God's Love. He enjoyed walking his dog Morgan while they visited with neighborhood friends. Having an interest in golf, he enjoyed playing in the early mornings while enjoying the outdoors. Planning yearly family vacations to Myrtle Beach with his family and grandchildren whom he loved dearly was important to him. After his
retirement, he became an avid gardener and enjoyed the bounty from his gardens and also shared with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Genice E. (Hoover) Jaques, whom he married June 10, 1988; five sons, Alan P. Jaques of Scotland, PA; Anthony D. Jaques (Leticia) of Fayetteville, PA; Jeremy L. Jaques of Scotland, PA; Kellan Cook (Angela) of Little Cove, PA; and Geoffrey E. Cook (Ali Washabaugh) of McConnellsburg, PA; nine grandchildren, Sage, Jadyn, Logan, Lucas, Adler, Bennett, Marlee, Indie, and Wells; a sister, Diana Linenberger of Mississippi; a niece, Lisa; a great niece, Jada, a great nephew, Timothy Jr.; four other important family mothers - Laura, Mandy, Heather, and Margaret; and his Sunday night circle friends who were his sisters and brothers in Christ.

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 30, 2023 in Grand Point Church, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201, with Pastor Lawrence Metzler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Military honors will be conducted in the church parking lot following the service by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.
