Obituary for George M. Kalathas
George M. Kalathas, 67, of Shepherdstown, WV and formerly of Chambersburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 7, 2022. Born on October 15, 1954, in Neohori, Nafpaktia, Greece, he was a son of the late Michael N. and Glekeria Kanelos Kalathas.
He was the sole proprietor of Tommy’s Pizza in Shepherdstown, WV since 1975. He also owned and operated The Reunion from 1984 to 1999. George was a fixture in the Shepherdstown community and will be greatly missed by multiple generations of loyal customers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lambriny Lainas Kalathas, his son Demetrios “Jimmy” Kalathas, brother Nicholaos Kalathas and sister Maria Pettas. He is survived by sons Michael G. Kalathas (wife Brittany) of Chambersburg, PA, Nicholaos G. Kalathas (wife Larae) of Chambersburg, PA, daughter Christina Kalathas of Shippensburg, PA; six grandchildren Odessa, Jace, Niko, Dexter, Lambriny, and Abby Kalathas; four brothers Charle Kalathas (wife Alex), Tom Kalathas (wife Demetra), John Kalathas (wife Helen) all of Chambersburg, PA and Tony Kalathas (wife Bonnie) of St. Thomas, PA; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 PM ET on Friday, October 14, 2022, in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg. A private (family and close friends) funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM ET on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in the St. Mary Orthodox Christian Church 2063 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, with Father Michael Varvarelis officiating. Interment will follow in Norland Cemetery.
