Obituary

Fred H. Guyer, Sr., 88, of Chambersburg, went to be with the Lord December 25, 2020 in the Chambersburg Hospital after a brief illness. Born May 31, 1932 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late John and Mabel Leevy Guyer. His beloved wife, Dorothy Guyer, preceded him in death in 2005.

A US Air Force veteran, Fred served honorably during the Korean War. He had been employed as a carpenter with Brechbill & Helman Construction Company until his retirement. He previously was the owner/operator of Fred H. Guyer, Sr. General Contracting. Fred was a member of Greenwood Assembly of God in Fayetteville where he was active in the Royal Rangers. He also enjoyed woodworking and cutting out wood crafts for his grandchildren to put together.

He is survived by three sons, Fred H. Guyer, Jr. and wife Jamie of Chambersburg, Michael S. Guyer of Chambersburg and Chester Guyer and wife Michele of Williamsburg, VA; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three siblings, Clarence Guyer of Chambersburg, Becky Effland of Chambersburg, and Marvin Barbour of GA. In addition to his wife and parents, Fred was preceded in death by six siblings.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Pastor Eugene Martin will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
