Obituary for Edward Johnston Rock

Edward J. “Big Ed” Rock, age 77, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 14, 1943, in Mont Alto, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel E. and Ruth Small Rock.
A 1961 graduate of the Waynesboro Area Senior High School, Ed went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked as an equipment operator for Penn Dot for 37 ½ years, prior to his retirement. Ed was a member of the Waynesboro Fish and Game, the South Mountain Fish and Game, and a life member of both the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department and the Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing grass, volunteering at the fire department. His most cherished hobby was supporting and attending his grandchildren’s sporting activities.
Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Deanna J. Noll Rock, whom he married on July 1, 1966; two children, Brian E. Rock (wife Pam) of Fayetteville, PA and Stacey Fogal of Fayetteville, PA; and three grandchildren, Katie Fogal, Gunnar Rock, and Brooke Rock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Rock.
Due to the current Covid restrictions, there will be a memorial service held in the future. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department, 101 West Main Street, Fayetteville, PA 17222.
