Obituary for Doris W. Mickey (Wingert)
Doris W. Mickey, 92, of Scotland, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Village at Luther Ridge. Born November 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther Wingert, Jr. and Viola Walters Wingert. Her beloved husband, Edward P. Mickey, preceded her in death on August 28, 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Susan M. Hipkiss and husband Lee of Chambersburg; grandson, Edward L. Hipkiss and wife Sigrid of York, PA; and three great grandchildren.
Doris was a 1945 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. Early in her life she was employed as an accountant for Hennessy Products and later as an accountant at various public accounting firms in the local area. Doris was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church and was very active in the United Methodist Women and served as President and Treasurer at both the district and conference levels. She was also a longtime volunteer at the United Way in Chambersburg.
Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the United Way, 182 S. Second Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
