Obituary for Donald G. "Pete" Sechrist Sr.
Donald G. “Pete” Sechrist, Sr., age 81 of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Manor Care Chambersburg. Born May 26, 1939, in Mt. Union, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Albert and Ruth E. Estep Sechrist.
A Maintenance Mechantic at the former Hoffman Mills in Shippensburg, Pete dedicated 35 years working there, until his retirement in 2001. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League. Pete enjoyed hunting, baseball, watching the Orioles and in football, the Kansas City Chiefs, and lastly a good cup of coffee.
Surviving are his children, Donald G. Sechrist, Jr. (companion Heidi Moyer) of Chambersburg and Kelly A. Althoff (husband Heath) of Aspers, PA; five grandchildren, Donovan Moyer, Dallas Sechrist, Skyylynn Sechrist, and Gavin and Myla Althoff; and a sister, Janet Fahnestock of Fayetteville, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Sechrist and William Sechrist, Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Murray B. Stevens will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
