Obituary for Dawn Crystal Wagner (Hershey)

Dawn Crystal Wagner, 63 of Shippensburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 19, 2022 at the Harrisburg Hospital due to complications from surgery. Born January 9, 1959 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Earl S. and Ethel Irene Slike Hershey. Dawn was a 1976 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and worked early in her life at the former Royal Jewel Box in downtown Chambersburg. She was later employed with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Harrisburg; Fashion Lane; and Patriot Federal Credit Union in Chambersburg. Dawn then operated a daycare in her home for twenty years and she also provided in home care for the elderly. She was an active member of Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church and the Koinonia Sunday School Class. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending quality time with her friends and family. She also loved Jesus and was passionate about witnessing to others. Her hobbies included cooking and baking.

She is survived by her husband, Brett M. Wagner, whom she married August 9, 1980; her son, Ryan T. Wagner and wife Jami (Resh) of Thornton, CO; his daughter, Brittany Hoke and husband Jeffrey of Shippensburg; six grandchildren, Axel Hershey Hoke, Adalia Liana Hoke, Ace Jacob Hoke, Maisie Lynn Wagner, Marlee Jane Wagner, and Millie Love Wagner; two brothers, Dennis C. Hersey and wife Teresa (Carbaugh) and Douglas C. Hershey; as well as her sister-in-law Karen Kessler Hershey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amara Olivia Hoke; and three siblings, Tyola C. Hershey, Deborah C. Hershey, and David C. Hershey.

Funeral services will be held at 5:30 PM Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, 2509 Black Gap Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Jim Bolich will officiate. Private interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until services begin at 5:30 PM on Thursday at the church.
