Obituary for Daniel K. Browell Sr.

Daniel “Danny” K. Browell Sr., 78, of St. Thomas, PA passed away peacefully on January 9, 2022 in Chambersburg Hospital. He was born in Hopewell, PA to the late J. Curtis Browell and Josephine Bridenstine Browell where he was raised on the family farm. In 1968, he moved his family to St. Thomas, PA where he started his lifetime career and trade as a mechanic later retiring from his own business, Browell’s Auto Sales. Danny was a quiet man but was always there for his family. He loved spending time with them and especially his grandchildren. He had a good sense of humor and a great laugh. Danny was mechanically gifted, able to fix anything he got his hands on. He loved Nascar racing, classic car shows & tractor pulls…traveling, camping and admiring old cars.
Danny just recently celebrated 60 years of marriage to his wife, Cathy “Catherine” Ritchey
Browell of Everett, PA.
He is survived by three children, Jacqueline Berkstresser, wife of Wayne Berkstresser of
Chambersburg, PA, Dan Browell Jr., husband of Colleen Browell, of Lititz, PA, and Christiana
McCulloh, wife of Gregory McCulloh of Mercersburg, PA. He leaves behind six grandchildren,
Zachary Berkstresser (wife Jessica), Holly Plumb (husband Bronley), Jacob Browell, Lainey,
Kelvyn & Paisley McCulloh and two great grandchildren, Weston & Foster Plumb.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Wayne Berkstresser, two sisters, Etta “Jean”
Collier & Helen Jay and two brothers, Curtis Browell & Joseph Browell Sr. Other sibling survivors are Ralph Browell, David Browell (wife Jeannie), and Dennis Browell (wife Denise).
Danny attended the Trinity United Church - Christ in Mercersburg, PA pastored by Rev. James
Hughes.
A private funeral will be held, officiated by his son, retired Pastor Dan Browell and Rev James Hughes following an open visitation on Wednesday, January 19th from 12-1pm at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to honor and celebrate Danny’s life. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
