Obituary for Catherine S. Hawbaker (Pine)
Catherine S. Hawbaker, 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday evening, February 27, 2022 at her home. Born September 16, 1944 in St. Thomas, she was the daughter of the late Max and Cora Weller Pine. Cathy was a 1962 graduate of the Chambersburg High School and was employed for more than 30 years at Jennings in Chambersburg. She was a social member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion where she enjoyed going to lunch with her friends. She enjoyed baking, flowers, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her husband, John “Jack” A. Hawbaker, whom she married January 4, 1963, preceded her in death on September 15, 2019.
She is survived by three children, Tammi S.Reasner (Kevin) of Chambersburg, Timothy S. Hawbaker (Beth) of Medina, OH, and Tracy S. Haluck (Chris) of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Jesse Reasner (Courtney), Miranda Hawbaker (Jeff), Rebekah Hawbaker (Noah), Timothy Haluck, Steven Haluck, and Makenzie Haluck; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and James Pine.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Kibreab “K.B.” Gudeta will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until services begin at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Thomas Sportsmen’s Association, 595 Apple Way, St. Thomas, PA 17252 or to ProMedica Hospice (formerly Heartland Hospice) 1200 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17015.
