Obituary

Bertha A. Kuhn, 93, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at her home. Born January 14, 1928 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Rudy A. and Fannie A. Hoover Alleman.

Bertha was a 1947 graduate of St. Thomas High School. She was employed at the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg for 19 years, Tracy Fashions for 13 years and was the owner/operator of her own antique business for 40 years. She was a member of Faith Church of God Harbor Light and the St. Thomas Sportsman’s Association where she was awarded “Sportsman of the Year”. She enjoyed gardening, viewing wildlife, feeding the deer near her home and, of course, her antiques.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Slye and husband E. David of Greencastle; her grandson Jason Reichard and wife Kristi; and two great grandchildren, Owen and Weston. In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Kuhn on August 23, 2018; and two brothers, Robert H. Alleman and Paul S. Alleman.

Bertha’s funeral service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Andy Ficks and Pastor Jerry Timbrooke will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Church of God Harbor Light, 537 Hood Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

I enjoyed sharing time with Bertha. She was always smiling and sweet. Only wish that I had gotten to know her better before she became sick. She was full of knowledge and always willing to share her stories with me. She loved watching the birds and deer from her window. She had a black cat named Jessie that was her sidekick that she loved to share time with. Taking care of Bertha was a joy and she will be missed but I know she is up with the angels looking down. I always enjoyed Bert's company at our lunches (Tracy Fashions girls) and she made excellent cakes to share for our birthdays even into her 90's! It was always a bright spot to run into her when out on errands. She was a kind person and will be missed.
