Obituary for Bernice Irene Etter (Barnhart)
Bernice Irene “Rene” Etter, 89, of Chambersburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday December 21, 2020 at Paramount Senior Living. Born November 9, 1931 in Hagerstown, she was a daughter of the late Ivan P. and Bernice Barnhart. Her beloved husband, Marvin G. Etter, preceded her in death on June 6, 2014. Bernice was employed as a seamstress at several area businesses including the Stanley Co. She attended King Street Church for many years.
She is survived by three children, Ronald G. Etter and wife Catherine of Landisburg, PA, Lelia M. Shoop and husband Jeffrey of Myersville, MD, and Detsie D. Harrison and husband Pete of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by three siblings.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Lincoln Cemetery. Rev. Jacob Harrison will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paramount Brethren In Christ Church, 19106 Longmeadow Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742. The family would like to thank the staff of Paramount Senior Living for the excellent care provided for Bernice while she was there. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L.
