Antoinette F. “Toni” Murphy, 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, November 5, 2022 peacefully in her sleep. Born August 13, 1941 in Shamokin, PA, she was a daughter of the late Pete and Catherine Rumberger Scovern. Toni was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Shamokin and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Miseracordia University in Dallas, PA. Patient and kind, Toni was born to teach and taught for several years at the St. Thomas Elementary School and then taught for more than 30 years at Corpus Christi Catholic School prior to her retirement. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary in Chambersburg. Toni enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Glenn H. Murphy, whom she married August 10, 1968, preceded her in death on February 5, 2015.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Murphy of Chambersburg; her son, John Murphy and wife Stacey, of Palm Harbor, FL; four grandchildren, Christopher Murphy, Felicia Murphy, Sloane Murphy, and Layne Murphy; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Gracelynn, Glenley, and Gemma; and two sisters, Sally Abraczinskas of Catawissa, PA, and Mabel Lindemuth of Connecticut.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Very Rev. Allan Wolfe, V.F at 1:30 PM Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until services begin at 1:30 PM on Saturday at church.
