Obituary for Alice Elizabeth Moore (Barton)

Alice E. Moore, 86, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Paramount Senior Living. Born December 25, 1935 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert Joseph and Francis May (Cuff) Barton.

Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot unitl her retirement in 1999. A long standing member of John Wesley AME Zion Church in Chambersburg, Alice found joy and peace with her church family. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Jeptha Chapter and the Elks Laurel Temple 519 and Unity Temple #61 Harrisburg PA through her adult life.

Affectionately known as “Alice Dallas”, “Miss Alice” or “Sugga Momma”, she loved life, and had a contagious fun spirit. Alice enjoyed playing bingo, watching the Dallas Cowboys and attending ElderDay at Menno Haven. Celebrating her Christmas birthday with her family and friends was a yearly highlight for her entire family. Alice loved to dance and it was her love of life and music that made you want to dance with her. Alice loved being around people, and they loved her too!

She is survived by four children, Anthony Barton of Chambersburg, Bradley Moore (Glenda) of Huntersville, NC, Lori Stinson (Craig) of Sicklerville, NJ, and Linda Moore of Chambersburg; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and wonderful family and friends In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by four siblings, Lawrence Barton, Rachel Barton, Florence “Flute” Keith, and Delores “Pee Wee” Tarlton and her ex-husband and friend Robert Moore Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Renata Moseley Harper will officiate. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
