Obituary for Alan Norman Keith

Alan Norman Keith passed away at the age of 77 in his residence with his family by his side on May 25th, 2023. He was born on October 28,1945 in Chambersburg, PA; the son of the late Clay and May (Norman) Keith.

In addition to his parents, Alan is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Keith. He is survived by his wife Patricia Joanne (Whitfield) Keith, a son, Michael (Judith) Young of Germany and two daughters, Michelle Young of Harrisburg and Desiree Keith of Chambersburg; 3 grandchildren Quintin Young, Mayah Young, and Lacey Young; and many “adopted” children and grandchildren.

Alan was a 1963 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and worked at the A & P store until deciding to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from February 23, 1965 to February 22, 1968. Alan retired from the United Telephone/Sprint United. He was a dedicated member of John Wesley AME Zion church where he served as an Usher and Trustee and was a proud member of the following organizations: H.O.G., treasurer for more than 27 years and life member of A.B.A.T.E., V.F.W. Post 1599 serving on the Honor Guard, Amvets Post #224, American Legion Post #46, Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League Detachment #295, Knights of Columbus Council 1426, and life member of the Veterans of Vietnam Wars Post #41 where he served as membership officer.

During his lifetime, he loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, going on rides with groups of friends including overnight rides. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family and going to sporting events (supporting Chambersburg). Alan was a SOCIAL butterfly, wherever he went he loved to talk and laugh - even if you were a stranger! He could spark-up a conversation and make friends with anyone.
