Obituary for Abram Myers Diehl

Abram Myers Diehl, 94, of Chambersburg, PA passed away the morning of Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in the Shook Home, Chambersburg. Born October 15, 1928 in Orrstown, PA he was the son of the late Harry C. and Barbara Ellen (Myers) Diehl.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. Abram was employed as a mechanic at the Letterkenny Army Depot for 35 years earning many distinguished citations throughout his career. Following his retirement from Letterkenny, he went to work at Lowes Home Improvement for over 10 years.

Abram took great joy in providing for his loving wife and their family. He enjoyed being outside whether he was gardening or spending time in the mountains. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg where he taught Good New Bible Class for many years. Abram had a great knowledge of the Bible and looked forward to the day he would meet his Savior.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gwendoline R. (Thomas) Diehl who he married December 31, 1964; five children, Francis M. Horton-Ratliff of Chambersburg, Samuel M. Horton (Sandra) of Fayetteville, Jacqueline A. Black of New York, Christine E. Gossert of Chambersburg, and Abram Mark Diehl (Lisa) of Carlisle, PA; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Dorine Winward; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Diehl and a sister, Anna Mary Horst.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
