Betty L. Barklow, age 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. Born In Hagerstown, MD on November 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Floyd M. and Grace Loretta Castle Slifer.

Mrs. Barklow was a 1950 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She worked as a teller at Chambersburg Trust Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as treasurer for a number years and she had also been a choir member. Mrs. Barklow enjoyed reading, church functions, travel, family functions, and shopping.

Surviving is her daughter, Barbara L. Wissinger (husband Harold) of Chambersburg, PA; three grandchildren, Stephanie Wheeler of Chambersburg, PA, Joshua Wissinger of Gettysburg, PA, an Ty Wissinger of Shippensburg, PA; one great-granddaughter, Jayla Wheeler; three siblings, Dorothy M. Allee, Georgia M. Kauffman (husband Ray), and Virginia S. Gift; and her loyal pet, Maggie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Barklow in 1992 and a brother, Eugene M. Slifer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 10:30 AM at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 West Washington St., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Jane Nicholson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 4, 2016, in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA from 6 – 8 PM and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery.
